Gérald Genta Geneva Minute Repeater Golden Obsidian
Gérald Genta has introduced a new iteration of its Geneva Minute Repeater, featuring a Golden Obsidian dial, a volcanic glass material previously unseen in watchmaking. This release follows last year's Onyx-dialed version and maintains the 40mm yellow-gold case and in-house GG-002 movement. The Golden Obsidian dial offers a unique texture and depth, contrasting with polished gold hands and markers, and is presented on a brown calfskin strap.
- 40mm yellow-gold case
- 9.6mm thickness
- 80 hours power reserve
- 3 Hz frequency
- Price: Upon Request
The Golden Obsidian dial is made from volcanic glass formed by rapidly cooled lava, trapping air, gas, and iron, giving it a stone-like appearance with added depth.
The watch utilizes the 40mm yellow-gold version of the cushion-shaped Geneva case, with a protruding single-lug design that results in a lug-to-lug measurement close to 40mm.
The in-house GG-002 movement, developed by La Fabrique du Temps, operates at 3 Hz and offers an 80-hour power reserve, noted for its loud minute repeater.
The dial features polished gold hands and markers, with a minute track that follows the case's shape on the outer edge and resolves into a circle internally.
The brown textured calfskin strap is described as dressing down the watch, making this execution a more casual alternative to the Onyx-dialed version.
The watch is expected to be highly limited and very expensive, likely in the same ballpark as last year's CHF 320,000 Onyx dial variant.
