Alpina Startimer Pilot Solarmetre Series
Alpina has introduced a new sub-series to its Startimer Pilot collection, featuring Solarmetre movements powered by light. These new models sport a downsized 38mm case, making them more versatile than their 40mm automatic counterparts, and are available in black, blue, and sand brown finishes.
- 38mm case size
- 9.32mm thickness
- Solar quartz movement AL-140
- 10 months power reserve
- 100m water resistance
- Price: £995 (black/blue), £1,095 (sand brown)
The 38mm case size is a 2mm reduction from the 40mm Startimer Pilot Automatic, with a corresponding reduction in thickness to 9.32mm due to the absence of an automatic rotor.
Two models feature standard steel cases, while a third has a sand brown PVD finish.
The dials are translucent to allow light to pass through and charge the solar cells, and feature the Alpina triangle logo at 12 o'clock and legible Arabic numerals.
The red Alpina triangle logo on the automatic models is replaced with a sky blue triangle on the Solarmetre series to signify its solar capability.
The AL-140 movement is produced in partnership with La Joux-Perret, Citizen Group's solar quartz experts, and offers up to 10 months of run time on a full charge.
The watches are offered with black leather, navy blue Cordura fabric, or sand beige Nato straps.
