The collection revives the Mephalie name, founded in 1876 by Sun Tingyuan, with a revival led by Lin Xiaolin.
The watches are built around a hand-wound minute-repeater calibre designed, developed, and produced in the atelier’s own workshop.
The Conductor model features an automaton with hand-finished silver musicians that move with the chime, set over a two-piece dial with a black polished part and a deep blue guilloche plate.
The Galloping Horse model features a dial made by Xiong Songtao, depicting a horse head using Jingtailan cloisonné enamel with thin gold wires.
The Voice of China model is made entirely in 18K rose gold, with a hand-carved dial depicting No. 12 on the Bund.
The movement has a claimed accuracy of -10 to +25 seconds per day.
The hammers on the movement are not perfectly well-defined, the bridges aren’t hand-chamfered, and the coiled gongs have a square profile.
