Roger Dubuis reimagines its Excalibur collection with "The Kabuto Legacy," a timepiece that merges haute horlogerie with Japanese samurai art. The watch features a dial adorned with 12 individually hand-engraved pink gold kabuto (helmets) of historical warriors, set against a contemporary interpretation of an Edo-period castle. This limited edition of 28 pieces treats the watch case as a miniature art gallery, emphasizing craftsmanship over technical complexity.

The dial features 12 individually hand-engraved pink gold kabuto, each based on the helmet of a historical samurai, and a contemporary interpretation of an Edo-period castle.
The case construction includes a sapphire crystal ring underneath the bezel to illuminate the miniature sculptures.
The stock strap is inspired by samurai armour, featuring characteristic stitching and overlapping leather panels.
The movement, RD821, is constructed, finished, and assembled to earn the Geneva Seal.
The rotor is embellished with twelve samurai crests, laser-engraved to reveal 18k pink gold substrate under blue coating.
Roger Dubuis collaborated with Frederik Cryns, author of the book that inspired the TV series 'Shōgun', to ensure historical accuracy of the samurai motifs.
Each helmet engraving took two to three days of work per helmet.
