Vaer C4 Tactical Field Solar
The Vaer C4 Tactical Field Solar is a new model inspired by historical milspec field watches, featuring a modernized design with a substantial case and highly legible dial. It aims to balance historical reverence with contemporary execution, offering robust construction and impressive lume performance for its price point.
- 41.5mm case size
- 12.7mm thickness
- 48.6mm lug-to-lug
- Matte finished case
- Bead-blasted surfaces
- 3D printed Super-LumiNova resin blocks for hour markers
- 200 meters of water resistance
- Quartz movement
The case design is inspired by historical milspec field watches like the Marathon Navigator and Benrus Type II, but deviates with a C-shape reminiscent of a skin-diver and a focus on visual heft.
The case features sculpted long arcing curves connecting the lugs and multiple beveled surfaces that break up the visual height, with bead-blasted surfaces that interact differently with light.
The dial aperture is 33.5mm across, featuring prominent 3D printed Super-LumiNova resin block hour markers for enhanced legibility and lume performance.
The handset utilizes syringe hour and minute hands, similar to classic field watches, with a unique elongated hexagon seconds hand.
The watch includes an inner 24-hour scale, which is positioned closely to the primary hour markers, potentially crowding the 10:00 and 11:00 markers.
The construction and finishing, including aligned angles at each lug tip, are noted as surprisingly well done for the price.
