CIGA Design has introduced a new "Gold" variation of its Time Cipher wandering-hour watch. This version features a black case and a gold-treated visible mechanical assembly, contrasting with the earlier black and steel models. The watch retains the complex wandering-hour complication, which has historical roots dating back to the 17th century.
- Price: US$899 (ex. taxes)
- Case size: 44mm
- Thickness: 11.8mm
- Power reserve: 40 hours
- Water resistance: 50 meters
The Time Cipher Gold features a black case with mirror-polished contours and micro-sandblasted recesses, similar to previous versions.
The wandering-hour complication involves a skeletonized minute arm that sweeps 360° each hour, pointing to minutes on an outer scale, while a gear-inspired hour disc rotates to indicate the hour.
The gold treatment on the wandering-hour assembly includes Côtes de Genève on the minute arm, a polished hour disc, and a micro-sandblasted counterweight.
The dial is described as 'Super Black,' absorbing 99.4% of light, with hour numerals filled with white, green-glowing Super-LumiNova.
The CD-08 movement is a customized Miyota 9015, featuring 24 jewels, a beat rate of 28,800 vph, and a quoted accuracy of -10/+30 seconds per day.
The watch is available through CIGA Design's online store and authorized dealers worldwide.
