The Parmigiani Tonda PF Chronographe Mystérieux is a new take on the chronograph complication, continuing the brand's exploration of hidden complications. It features a unique system where chronograph hands remain concealed within the time display until activated, offering a theatrical transformation of the dial. This watch follows the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante and Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante, applying a similar principle of temporary separation and re-synchronization to the chronograph functions.

The chronograph complication is designed to be latent, with minute and hour hands separating from their timekeeping counterparts and flying back to zero upon activation, while the central seconds hand also snaps back before recording elapsed time.
When the chronograph is stopped, all three hands display the measured time; resetting causes the timing hands to reunite with their timekeeping counterparts, and the seconds hand resumes its normal progression.
The watch employs a classic vertical clutch with a centrally located clutch disc, and the movement's fourth wheel is positioned at the center.
The case features a satin-brushed caseband, polished upper lug surfaces separated by a small lengthwise bevel, and a slim fluted platinum bezel.
The dial is finished with an extremely fine, hand-applied grain d’Orge guilloché pattern, which is authentically engine-turned.
The watch is described as the third in a trilogy exploring hidden complications, following the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante (2022) and Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante (2023).
