The Piaget Polo 79 Sodalite is an extension of the Polo 79 collection, featuring a dial made from five horizontal panels of sodalite semi-precious stone. This design choice draws on Piaget's historical expertise with stone dials, dating back to the 1960s, and aims to give the revived Polo 79 a distinct identity. The watch retains the compact 38mm, 7.45mm thin white gold case and bracelet of the original Polo 79, powered by Piaget's ultra-thin 1200P1 micro-rotor automatic movement.

The sodalite dial is divided into five horizontal panels, separated by polished white gold gadroons, a configuration that subtly nods to Piaget's mastery of stone marquetry and maintains the Polo's defining horizontal motif.
The full white gold case and bracelet provide a heavy, dignified feel, with alternating brushed surfaces and polished gadroons finished to a high standard.
The watch is powered by Piaget's ultra-thin 1200P1 micro-rotor calibre, measuring 2.35 mm in height, which is one of the thinnest automatic movements in production.
The sodalite dial adds approximately US$7,000 to the retail price compared to the standard white gold Polo 79.
The movement's 44-hour power reserve is considered a bit short by today's standards.
The grey-coated micro-rotor is made of 22k gold.
