Midnight Jour Nuit Phase de Lune
The Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight Jour Nuit Phase de Lune is a 42mm white gold watch featuring a 24-hour day/night display and a precise astronomical moon phase. A unique interactive animation allows the wearer to spin the Murano aventurine glass dial 360 degrees on demand, showcasing celestial elements. The timepiece is powered by a bespoke self-winding mechanical movement developed over four years in Geneva.
- 42mm white gold case
- Self-winding mechanical movement
- On-demand 360-degree dial animation
The watch combines a 24-hour day/night display with a meticulously precise moon phase tracker.
An interactive, on-demand animation rotates the starry Murano aventurine glass dial 360 degrees in exactly 10 seconds.
The movement required four solid years of research and development in Geneva.
The case design is simple with a clean, stepped bezel, and a small, flush pusher integrated into the case flank.
The caseback features a textured, engraved lunar surface with a sapphire insert showing an enamelled Earth and miniature-painted planets.
The dial backdrop is cut from black Murano aventurine glass, heated to 1,200°C before cooling for a month, with a bronze-toned sparkle.
A textured, guilloché-cut yellow gold sun tracks across the upper dial over 24 hours, dipping below a horizon line made of guilloché mother-of-pearl painted with a black-to-white gradient.
The astronomical moon phase is driven by a hidden second disc rotating at a rate of 24 hours, 16 minutes, and 27 seconds for the true 29.5-day cycle.
