The brief

Hanhart has released its first official Steve McQueen Limited Edition chronograph, the 417 ES Steve McQueen Limited Edition No. 1. This new release pays homage to the iconic actor's personal Hanhart 417 ES, which he wore extensively in various racing and off-road events. The watch incorporates design elements from the original Bundeswehr chronograph and McQueen's personal timepiece, with input from his grandchildren.

  • Limited to 300 pieces
  • Price: €2,890 (including VAT)
Across the sources

The watch features Steve McQueen's signature discreetly placed above the 6 o'clock marker, approved by his grandchildren.

Fratello

The dial incorporates the old Hanhart logo, period-correct to the watch McQueen would have worn.

Time+Tide

Super-LumiNova in 'Old Radium' color is used for a vintage, aged glow on the hands and numerals.

Fratello

The central minutes hand is curved to prevent parallax errors and improve legibility.

Time+Tide

It retains the characteristic bidirectional coin-edge bezel and the signature red flyback chronograph pusher.

Fratello

The red pusher's color is said to have originated from a pilot's wife painting it with nail polish to remember him, and also served a practical purpose to prevent accidental activation.

Fratello

The Bund-style strap is made from Shell Cordovan leather from Italian tannery Comipel.

Packaging includes a booklet, a numbered plaque, a bottle of red nail polish, and a limited edition card signed by McQueen's grandchildren.
