The brief

Albishorn has introduced two new iterations of its Marinagraph regatta chronograph, the Classic and Classic Fumé, featuring white or black dials and a black sapphire crystal bezel. These models retain the patented 10-minute retrograde countdown function and a destro layout with a monopusher at 9 o'clock, designed for pre-race timing.

The new models feature a black, domed sapphire crystal bezel with luminescent markings, replacing the aluminum insert and tide bezel of previous versions.

Monochrome Watches

The destro layout places the red anodised aluminum monopusher at 9 o'clock and the crown at 10 o'clock, a design choice to optimize chronograph activation with the thumb.

The 10-minute countdown is indicated by a blue and red retrograde arc, with the decisive 5-minute sector highlighted in red.

The proprietary calibre ALB01 A is a modified Sellita-based automatic monopusher chronograph movement with a 6.6mm thickness.

The white dial is described as a 'white fumé' with a subtle dark fade around the edges, while the black dial is sunray-brushed.

Hodinkee

The chronograph action is noted as feeling refined compared to many 7750-based chronographs.

The design draws inspiration from the 1958 America's Cup and the American yacht Columbia, which featured an aluminum mast.

Worn & Wound

The retrograde countdown function disengages at zero, freezing the hand to prevent visual confusion at the starting gun.
