Formex has introduced the AirField, a new aviation-inspired watch built on the platform of their popular Field watch series. It features a titanium case, pilot's watch-style dial and hands for enhanced legibility, and an upgraded Sellita SW200-2 Power+ movement with an extended power reserve. The AirField borrows the titanium case architecture of the Formex Field, with a reconfigured dial and handset for an aviation-inspired look, prioritizing legibility with broad, sword-shaped hands and Arabic numerals.
The case measures 40mm in diameter, weighs 54 grams, and features a surface treatment claimed to achieve a hardness rating of around 900 Vickers to resist scratches.
A sense of depth is created through a sloped chapter ring rising towards the sapphire crystal and slightly recessed numerals, without significantly increasing case height.
Dials are available in four colors (Desert Sand, Horizon Blue, Jet Black, Tarmac Grey) and feature a subtle grained texture.
The movement is Sellita's SW200-2 Power+ caliber, offering an increased power reserve of 65 hours from the standard SW200's 41 hours.
The hardened titanium case weighs just 54 grams without the strap and measures 10.5mm thick with a 48mm lug-to-lug distance.
The dial design includes recessed, stencil-style Arabic numerals filled with Super-LumiNova and a triangle at 12 o'clock, with a seconds hand featuring an aircraft-shaped counterweight.
Desert Sand dials use blacked-out lume, while Horizon Blue, Jet Black, and Tarmac Grey versions use BGW9 lume.
