Alexandre Martin 1965
Belgian watchmaker Alexandre Martin has launched his debut timepiece, the 1965, an elegant three-hand watch. Despite his ambition to specialize in complications, Martin chose a proven base movement for his first creation, meticulously reworking and refinishing it. The watch features a contemporary aesthetic with design elements inspired by mountains and high-altitude gear.

The 1965 is named after the birth year of Alexandre Martin's father.
Martin chose not to develop an entirely new movement for his debut, instead reworking a vintage CYMA 586 base, keeping the mainplate and gear train while refinishing and modifying them.
Bridges were newly manufactured, and the balance wheel, Breguet hairspring, and click mechanism were remade.
The movement features a hand-brushed grained finish and bevelled bridges with inward angles.
The production version will feature a reworked barrel to increase power reserve beyond the original CYMA 586's 36 hours.
The small seconds sub-dial is crafted from enamel and produced in Anita Porchet's workshops.
White gold hour markers appear suspended above the dial, inspired by mountains and designed to look like they are floating.
The hand-polished steel hands are inspired by high mountain gear.
