Minase Mastercraft J3 Collection
Minase has introduced the Mastercraft J3, a new collection that marks a return to the brand's minimalist origins with a more compact 37mm case. This collection features a Japanese Miyota automatic movement for the first time in the brand's history, alongside the meticulous Sallaz hand-finishing Minase is known for.
- 37mm stainless steel case
- Miyota 90S5 automatic movement
- 42-hour power reserve
- 50m water resistance
- Price starts at USD 2,050
The Mastercraft J3 features a streamlined 37mm case, a reduction from the 38.8mm case of the M3, and a slimmer profile of 9.9mm compared to 10.8mm.
The case design is described as cushion-shaped, resembling a helmet or bullhead style with a subtle 1970s aesthetic, featuring a brushed top and Sallaz mirror-polished bevels.
Sallaz polishing, an in-house specialty, is used to achieve distortion-free mirror surfaces and sharp edges on the case and bezel.
The dials are sand-textured and available in white, black, or beige, with stepped, polished indices and hands that feature blue luminescent material.
The Miyota 90S5 automatic movement operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and offers hacking seconds.
The watch incorporates a one-touch quick-change system for interchangeable straps, with options including calfskin, textured leather, rubber, and a stainless steel bracelet.
The Mastercraft J3 is presented as a return to Minase's roots, inspired by the original M1 model from 2005, which was also a compact 37mm steel watch focused on case finishing.
