Caran d’Ache x MB&F GorillaSharpener
MB&F has collaborated with Caran d’Ache to create the GorillaSharpener, a desk accessory that reimagines the classic Swiss pencil sharpener as a knuckle-walking gorilla. This limited edition piece celebrates 15 years of the M.A.D.Gallery and supports the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.

The GorillaSharpener is a reimagining of the 1933 Caran d’Ache Sharpening Machine, given the MB&F treatment with gorilla limbs.
Designed by Maximilian Maertens, it stands approximately 150mm tall and features a knuckle-walking stance.
The sharpener mechanism is constructed from zinc alloy, steel, and chrome-plated parts, with stainless-steel and cast-iron for the limbs.
It accepts round or hexagonal pencils from 4–10mm in diameter and includes an interchangeable cutter.
Each sharpener comes with a securing clamp, instruction manual, and a set of Caran d’Ache pencils.
The Alpine Frost blue finish is limited to 300 pieces and launched on World Gorilla Day, September 24th.
MB&F is supporting the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund with contributions to protection teams, scientific research, and conservation.
This collaboration follows previous MB&F and Caran d’Ache projects, including the 2016 Astrograph and the 2024 DinoSharpener.
