Louis Erard has collaborated with artist Bernardo d’Orey to create the Marqueterie de Paille, a limited edition wristwatch featuring a dial crafted using the rare technique of straw marquetry. This artisanal approach involves meticulously cutting and arranging dyed straw to form an abstract "Broken Ice" composition in shades of blue, with each dial requiring over 12 hours of work.

The dial is handcrafted by Portuguese artist Bernardo d’Orey using straw marquetry, a technique involving the precise cutting and arrangement of natural materials into geometric patterns.
Each dial takes Bernardo d’Orey over 12 hours to produce, spread over multiple days due to the required precision and concentration.
The dial features a "Broken Ice" composition in layered shades of blue, mimicking a fumé gradient that transitions from light to dark.
The movement is a Sellita SW261-1 automatic with élaboré grade finishing, visible through a grey, smoked exhibition caseback.
The watch is housed in a 39mm diameter stainless steel case with a thickness of 12.82mm.
The abstract composition is created from 28 sections, each different in shape, size, and fibre direction, producing a constantly changing interplay of light and texture.
The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.
The movement is a Sellita SW266-1 élaboré-grade automatic with a special openworked rotor and a 38-hour power reserve.
