This Rolex Ref. 6062, an Oyster triple calendar moon phase from the 1940s, is being offered at auction. It is noted for its excellent original condition, steel construction, and traceable provenance, having only had two owners in its 80-year history. The watch represents one of Rolex's most complicated vintage models and is considered a desirable piece, especially in steel.
- Steel case
- Triple calendar with moon phase complication
- Estimate: €1.0-2.0 million
This Ref. 6062 features an 'explorer' dial with Arabic numerals at three and nine, and arrowhead hour markers, a configuration unique to the steel version.
The dial has a two-tone finish with a grained date track and a vertically brushed central portion, with radium lume on the hour markers and hands.
The case retains original details such as sharp bezel edges and linear brushing on the lugs, with a shallow caseback engraving that is still legible.
The watch is powered by an in-house movement that was among Rolex's most complicated for decades.
The Ref. 6062 is an Oyster model, distinguishing it from the Ref. 8171 'Padellone' which has a snap-on case back.
The consignor is the second owner of the watch, having acquired it in 2017 from the original owner.
